Time Line
PCI was formed in 1981 and started training from a single room in Snaithing Grange in Sheffield. Its first system was sold to L. S. & J. Sussman Ltd of Wakefield but they were pipped to the post by Abbey Hosiery in Nuneaton who were the first to use their new system.
In 1985 the Company relocated to larger premises in Fitzwilliam Street, Sheffield.
Having incorporated many new features into their applications PCI sold their system to Downings Steel Ltd. Barnsley, the first sale to the steel stockholding sector.
In 1991 PCI celebrated its 10th Anniversary and Bob Dawson was appointed Managing Director.
In 1995 the Company completed a re-organisation and change name from Production Control Information to PCI Systems Ltd.
In 1996 the World Wide Web was an established part of the IT world and PCI launched their first web site. They also incorporated ODBC compatibility to all their applications.
Having out grown the Fitzwilliam Road premises they relocated to the current address at PCI House, Acorn Business Park, Sheffield.
PCI became a member of Clotech and the Product Development Partnership in 1999.
All of PCI’s customers made the transition to the 21st century unaffected by the much hyped Millennium Bug.
Revamped products were launched under the names
Stock.IT
and TEC.Style.
PCI continued to offer its now well established Annual Customer Conferences. The venues have included Granada Studios, Warwick Castle, National Motorbike Museum and Kelham Island Industrial Museum.
The summer of 2003 launch of new Windows based prof.IT system, the culmination of 4 years of intense development. The first Sale achieved in July of that year.
